I was saying to a friend just a while ago that I’d been reading about the lack of proper art galleries in Japan; how what passes for gallery space is usually a corner of a commercial area. While I’m a big fan of the gallery concept, think of it this way: Who needs a gallery in a country where even the simplest things are treated in such a creative fashion? The entirety of life is a major work of art.
